Memoirs of a Motel Mouser William R. Hosie Jr.

Deputy, a motel cat, who narrates this fictional piece MEMOIRS OF A MOTEL MOUSER, lives outside of the motel in a colony of stray cats. A kindly motel security officer, Captain Bill, feeds the cats every day and bonds with Deputy. By hanging out around the motel, Deputy finds out that he has a special talent that separates him from the other cats: he can understand what humans say. He becomes Captain Bill's unofficial assistant. In the story, Deputy describes all of the cases he works on with Captain Bill. Together the duo saves the motel from a horde of criminals. They foil counterfeiters, drug dealers, thives, underage drinkers and even a statutory rapist. Their biggest case is helping the FBI solve the mystery of a chain of bank robberies. It is a fast-paced story with humor and sadness mixed in along with the suspense. It is a book cat-lovers will enjoy as well as mystery fans.
