Alex is a 20 year old human girl who lives on the streets of the town, Longford, with her younger brother, Jacob, while on the run from the man who murdered her parents. This man, Sylus, isn't actually of the human race at all. He comes from an ancient race of people called the Engle who look like humans, but who have the senses, grace, strength and skill of jungle cats. Alex accidentally bonds with the Engle patriarch when he tries to save her life. Alex will never be the same.
