Deanna needs to get her journals back. Her husband, Mark Braxton, stole from her when he ran off and left her. Deanna did not care that he was gone; all she wanted was her journals. Mark wasted no time calling her and telling her she could have her books back if she was willing to part with some of her inherited money. Marcus Whitecloud runs a private investigation firm. He agrees to help Deanna, especially since she was so honest about what was in the journals. How hard could it be to retrieve a few diaries written by a lonely teenager a long time ago? Marcus realizes that Deanna is exactly what he wants in a woman. The closer Marcus gets to Deanna, the uglier life seems to get for her.
