NFL hopeful Rodney Morgan had it all until he wouldn't do the bidding of a dangerous mob boss named, Genco Guiseppe. Two years later, after a deadly accident that claimed the lives of his wife and unborn child, Rodney is a broken man with a prosthetic leg. Running for his life and with nothing left to live for Rodney is close to suicide until he is talked out of it by Mr. & Mrs. Brown. They give him a second chance at life when Brown hires him on his staff at Sunbury high school. Years later Coach Brown gets ready to retire and picks Rodney, his most inexperienced staff member, to succeed him as head coach. However some in the school system, town and even a few players are not happy with the new and inexperienced Coach Morgan as their new leader. Morgan, trying to stay incognito, turns down the job until he is confronted by Genco Guiseppe's thugs who intend to finish the job they started years ago. Seconds from death by a chrome 357 magnum that's staring Rodney in his face Guiseppe calls off his thugs. Guiseppe sees a large profit can be made while betting on the underdog Hornets during their games. Morgan rushes back to the field house and asked for the job he turned down hours earlier. He then throws himself and the Hornets into an intense training program, as his life literally depends on it. But jealous coaches conspire to destroy Morgan's success by ruining the Hornets in a multitude of ways during the season. But one defeat means the Hornets are eliminated from the High School Championship Tournament and Rodney will have to pay with his life.
