Publisher Marketing: When Kungu, a Kenyan living in America decides to visit his homeland, his most fervent desires are to be reunited with the family he has not seen in eight years, and to see the piece of real estate that he worked tirelessly to invest in. Unbeknown to Kungu, his country is in crisis following disputed election polls, and his village in Eldoret is one of the regions adversely affected by the violence. To get home, Kungu must struggle through fiery roadblocks set up by ignorant youth, who see politics in ethnic terms, and now cry for his blood. Kungu also faces his Kikuyu tribesmen, who are determined to avenge the atrocities against their community by murdering in cold blood, anyone not from their community. Meanwhile, Kungu has assumed the responsibility of watching a troubled teenager with suicidal tendencies, but when he meets Polly, his childhood sweetheart and learns of a secret that his family has kept away from him for two years, his voluntary task is quickly put to test. As they struggle with their unresolved emotions for each other, Kungu and Polly are unaware that a wealthy couple in a baby selling racket has paid for Polly's newborn; and in an era where money is power, nothing will stop the aggressive couple from getting their money's worth. In their boundless determination to get home to their families, the childhood sweethearts struggle through many heart wrenching scenes, bearing witness to the aftermath of the atrocities. Throughout their journey, the fear of what lies ahead becomes inevitable yet nothing could have prepared them for what they find; or the dark secret that Kungu's brother Kamau, has harbored for a long time, now forcing him to beg for Kungu's forgiveness before he succumbs to the poisoned arrow lodged in his back.
