Rocks for Clean Oceans Lynda Ellis Cornfield
Rocks for Clean Oceans
Lynda Ellis Cornfield
This story is about a young rock, Kiwi Rock who makes his way across the Pacific Ocean from New Zealand to the California coast, to attend an international rock conference. With knowledge of where he came from, a sense of purpose and a supportive father, he sets off on his adventure to learn as much as he can about marine life and hazards to his environment. Kiwi Rock encounters some dangerous situations, but with courage and confidence his father instilled in him, and along with some good friends, he not only survives, but goes on to educate others of the importance of cleaning up the polluted oceans and waterways, and the need to prevent future pollution. In sharing his experience, he shows that in every community there is interdependence - everything, no matter how big or small, has an important role to play.
