Facing an arranged marriage to someone she did not love, and determined to escape the farming life, Catherine did not hesitate to take matters into her own hands. She eloped with a man who had no farm, and little financial resources-someone her father could not appreciate, but she could both love and admire!Catherine's story recounts her childhood and youth, discusses her aspirations, family and married life-even relations with her mother-in-law.
