The story is set in the Caribbean before the golden age of piracy, before the first skull and cross bones was ever hoisted by any sea rogue, during a time known as the age of the buccaneer heroes. Molded by events beyond his control, Miles Thorpe was raised on English warships during a time when England was constantly at war with the great powers of Europe, during the time of her own civil war. After rising through the ranks of the English Navy, he left the service to right the wrongs done to him at an early age. He would use his training and skills to seek his fortune, and his revenge.
