Carpe Diem is a story about a man who has discovered that he has a terminal illness and only has a few years to live. So he sets out on a journey around the world, visiting the most exotic places and experiencing all the cultures that this world has to offer. Along this great journey he hopes to find what the true meaning of life is, as he struggles with his purpose and reason for living, all he can do is go out and enjoy life. His search takes him to the ends of the world, and back; only to find that the true meaning of life has never left his side throughout the whole novel. Four friends set out on a journey around the world accomplishing a list of one hundred and one things to do before they die, which is in just a few short years for the main character: Sean. In the end, the Sean must finally face his mortality and the fate he knew he could not escape. With his final realization of the purpose of life in his final moments, a tear jerking conclusion unfolds as he breathes his final breaths with the one girl by his side, Taylor. The end of the heart wrenching tale around the world leaves us all wanting for more out out life, and to finally truly start living.
