A fiction-historical novel with the following short synopsis: The Regents, a powerful, old-money South Georgia family, are involved in the lucrative naval stores turpentine industry, as well as being a major player in the financial world in the South in 1925. However, when a rattlesnake bite kills a key turpentine worker supervisor and leaves his daughter orphaned, the lives of Reginald and Naomi Regent, owners of the huge turpentine conglomerate located in Wellington, Georgia, will forever be changed. Len, one of the Regent brothers, after having learned about the wild horses of the West, moved to Utah shortly after the turn of the twentieth century with a deep concern for that animal and its existence. Little does he realize that what has just occurred in South Georgia will profoundly affect his life as well. Thus, the stage is set for a heart-warming saga that traverses nearly eight decades and three generations, finally concluding with an interesting twist in 2008. A great read with an excellent mix of romance, intrigue, mystery, friendships, history and politics surrounding the plight of the mustang makes this a very difficult book to put down and equally hard to forget.
