Laney Jennings is invited to Paradise, California to work at her grandmother's youth camp and unexpectedly finds herself on a journey of survival with her childhood crush, Jonathan Reed. They become an important part of history when they arrive back in 1960 where Laney's grandparents are just beginning to build the camp. Spending every day with Jonathan and working to find their way back home, Laney's feelings for him are reignited. She reminds herself, however, that he has a girlfriend and decides to settle for just being friends. It isn't until a danger threatens the camp and the life of Laney's grandmother, that Jonathan realizes the significance of his feelings for Laney and how she gives his life purpose, something he's not known before. Jonathan and Laney eventually have to confront real life issues, along with the unforseen outcome of an accident that tests the strength of their new love and their will to be together.
