A Larger Tapestry
Ruth M. Earn
Ruth M. Earn was born in Manchester, Ct. which was called "The City of Village Charm". In its early years, this village was the home of the Cheney silk and velvet weaving industry. These beautifully woven tapestries decorated many places, including the White House in Washington D. C. Unique is the fact that the Cheney weaving Mills were among the first to use the moveable cards of JACQUARD to weave material. This was the JACQUARD concept that led to the beginnings of the computer age. "My father, Ruth says, wove these beautiful Jacquard materials." One of her poems speaks of her father's work. This is what inspired her to call her poetry collection THE LARGER TAPESTRY.
