Samson and Delilah in North America
Maurice Melchior
A 50 year old TAE KWON DO champion falls in love with a beautiful 20 year old Go-Go dancer. He is a widower with a 15 year old daughter studying in high school overseas. The dancer is a brilliant college student with a 3.96 high school average and was an A student at Stanford University, who suddenly had to return to Detroit to help her ailing grandfather. They are both scarred people: He, because he had lost his Beauty Queen wife to cancer at age 35; she, because she lost both parents in a car crash when she was four months old. Initially, their relationship meshes like a set of gears, but later it becomes stormy. He thinks of her as a Delilah transplanted into the 20th Century, and himself as a modern day Samson. She betrays him, not by cutting the curls of his hair, but by her insatiable sexual needs to satisfy the love she never had from a father. After 7 weeks, she goes back to Stanford in California. When he runs into her two years later in Detroit, she again is a dancer. She drops a bombshell: she has a son now, but is not married to the boy?s father. He goes to the Caribbean with his daughter and friend over the Christmas/New Years holidays. She surprises him by showing up a few days later in the same hotel in Grand Cayman with an escort. They have one last fling, and part as lover/friends.
