Contributor Bio:  Colson, Kim Author Biography: Elizabeth Schoberg became familiar with the effects of grief on a child when her only daughter was stillborn in 1972. Her 6 year old son withdrew from the family and his schoolmates as he struggled to understand why Mommy didn't bring the new baby home. After writing articles on her family's experience with their young son, Elizabeth was asked to contribute to a new book on coping with high risk pregnancy and caring for the preterm infant. "What To Do When Your Baby Is Premature" included a section on the effect of grief on a child. Years later, Elizabeth recognized the need of parents of preemies to open a dialogue with brothers and sisters waiting at home, experiencing uncertainty during a troubling time. "Chirp's Lullaby" was created to bridge the gap between fear and hope; affording parents a place to begin sharing with their children the special care given to their baby in the NICU. Illustrator Biography: Kim was born in Pisa, Italy. Kim graduated from The Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a major in Graphic Design as well as a minor in Art History. She is a designer with experience in federal and state government, education, and finance. Kim also does freelance work, including design of book covers and individual and corporate branding. Photography is one of her passions and she also enjoys the process of fine art. She loves how the image starts to pop from the page as she creates. Her artwork has appeared in regional exhibitions as well as several national publications. This is her first children's book. Kim now lives in the metropolitan Washington D. C. area.
