Publisher Marketing: Don Moyer began writing his outdoor column, Tight Lines, at the Tracy Press in California in 1979. As years went by, he added numerous other newspapers. Also a freelance fishing writer, his work has appeared in Angler & Flyfishing the West magazines. An angler and hunter since childhood, Don has been active in fishing and hunting conservation groups for decades. A former Region Manager of California Trout and member of Trout Unlimited and the Federation of Flyfishermen, Don also served on the Board of Directors of the Tuolumne River Trust. He has been a member of The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, the NRA, and the Outdoor Writers of America. When not exploring the outdoors, Don is President of Moyer Consulting, a firm specializing in fighting government red tape. Tight Lines is a collection of Don's most memorable columns and magazine articles over the past 30 plus years. They cover not only traditional fishing and hunting topics, but such diverse outdoor pursuits, as fly tying, reloading, theology, ghost towns, wilderness hot tubs, arrowhead collecting, woodcutting, conservation, guns, knives, rattlesnake wrangling, and Second Amendment Rights. You may agree with him, you may think he's dead wrong. He might make you laugh, cry, or angry, but whether you agree or disagree, he'll surely make you think. Tight Lines is truly the observations of an outdoor philosopher. Review Citations: Foreword 01/10/2011 (EAN 9781452851983, Paperback) Contributor Bio:  Moyer, Don Don Moyer was born in Brooklyn, NY. In the late 1940's his family moved to the South Bronx. His father, Howard, and mother, Sally, operated a candy store near the old Third Avenue Elevated Railway. When Don was seven, they moved to rural, upstate New York. Don still lives in upstate New York, at Clifton Park, near Saratoga Springs. As a young man, Don hitchhiked across the country, rode Southern Pacific freights through the Southwest desert, and finally graduated from Westfield (Massachusetts) College in 1972. He has been employed as a factory worker at Strathmore Paper and the Columbia Bicycle Company in Massachusetts, and as a high school teacher, in both public and private, city and rural schools. Fifteen years ago, Don started a one-person interior landscaping business. He has been married to his wife, Susan, for almost twenty-five years. They have a fifteen year-old daughter, Kate, and a twenty year-old son, Nick. Don Moyer's poetry has appeared in Poetry, Harpers, Antaeus, Rolling Stone, and The Massachusetts Review, among other publications.
