After the death of her father, a woman enters into communication with invisible forces - both the dead and the unborn. Her father's ghost, her unborn child, dead poets and other invisible entities begin to take on a stronger presence in her life, as her own high-risk pregnancy progresses to the point of delivery. Her journey continues beyond that moment of birth, reaching 500 years into the future to a descendant of the child she bore - one who now walks on the red planet, Mars.
