Jacket Description/Flap: Based on the acclaimed documentary Biloxi Memories and the Broadwater Beach Hotel, produced and written by Barbara Sillery, this illustrated celebration of the Mississippi Gulf Coast community looks at its history from the first inhabitants until today. Sillery celebrates them all: from the famous visitors and residents including Elvis, Jayne Mansfield, and Jefferson Davis to the curious characters like the "Mad Potter"; from the grand old hotels like the Edgewater Gulf Hotel and the Broadwater Beach Hotel to the expansive beaches and the iconic Biloxi Lighthouse; from the unique products, including Barq's root beer, to the thriving seafood industry. Captured through vintage postcards, photographs, and memorabilia, along with numerous interviews, are the memories of generations who visited this landmark city. Sillery records the region's vibrant history and updates the stories for a new generation to examine and admire. Barbara Sillery is an award-winning and prolific producer and writer with a penchant for visual history. Her fascination with the cultural history of places and antiques led her to write The Haunting of Louisiana, The Haunting of Mississippi, and The Haunting of Cape Cod and the Islands, all published by Pelican.
