THE GILGUL is a novel about a young man who must summon the courage to grow up if he?s to deal with what life has just thrown his way; namely, love, reincarnation, and a serial murderer. Gilgul is the Hebrew word for a reincarnated soul. Gavriel Jacobs, a 22 year old observant Jew, discovers that he is the reincarnation of a man who was unable to prevent his beloved?s death in their previous existence. Reborn as Gavriel, the gilgul has been given a second chance to save her. When he was five, Gavriel was traumatized by the strange sudden death of his bigger-than-life mother, causing him to repress the spiritual gifts that he?d received from her. The novel begins seventeen years later, when those buried gifts reawaken in Gavriel and he meets his bashert, his soulmate, Zohara Ben Tefilla, the 18 year old daughter of a renowned kabbalist rabbi and exorcist. Complicating matters for Gavriel is a mysterious college professor to whom Zohara is drawn. As they navigate the everyday mysteries and confusions of attraction and love, Zohara and Gavriel must find out how they are connected to the serial murders and overcome their differences, their enemies, and their selves.
