Her bedroom was oddly cold. She looked around. There has to be a draft coming in from somewhere, she thought to herself. The mirror caught her attention again... Sixteen year old SARAH PORTELLI has begun a new life...in an old house. Once occupied by Sarah's long deceased grandparents, Sarah's widowed mother ADRIAN has moved her two daughters, Sarah and the younger CONNIE, into their father's childhood home. It is Adrian's hope that the move will at least partly help Sarah to break away from the grief she is still experiencing over her father's accidental death. Sarah is eager to escape her old life, but is about to experience more than just the new school and new friends she was expecting to come with a new start in life! Very quickly after moving into her new bedroom, Sarah discovers that the house is haunted by a spirit that is attracted to her room, and to the antique mirror that hangs in it. The terror of the haunting gives way to Sarah bravely searching for an explanation for it. The story ends with Sarah coming to a deeper understanding of grief and loss, and this frees her to become the happy and carefree teenager that had been hidden for so many years.
