Imagine living in a society in which each member may have different beliefs and each member may practise a religion that is different from the others. Imagine this happening in family units with each family member having a different religion. Our heroine finds herself in such an open minded and tolerant society. However, these people keep their beliefs and traditions a secret from the establishment and from the government. The government has traditionally kidnapped members from this society to indoctrinate them into religions that the government deems to be more acceptable. Will Canada, an ever-oppressive country, continue the kidnappings and forced indoctrination or will the people be able to practise their beliefs openly? Will our heroine and the other members of her society finally recover from years of oppression and abuse to find fulfillment and happiness in their lives?
