Unbreakable Sticks: Building & Leading Teams with Ubuntu: Sticks in a Bundle Can Not Be Broken
Dr. Michael E. Lorenzen
There is a wonderful Kenyan proverb "Vijiti katika kifungu na ni madhubuti", or "Sticks in a bundle can not be broken". After spending some time in rural Kenya I became convinced that Africans get the reality of being human more profoundly than many of us in the west do. I really like the imagery of bundling sticks in such a way that together they are not only stronger, but unbreakable. The word ?ubuntu? from the African Xhosa language summarizes a philosophy of focusing on human connections in order to better the whole community. Leading with ubuntu is the most powerful way to build teams and I want to help others finds better ways to build and lead.
