Publisher Marketing: Sultan Valad, son of the Sufi poet Rumi, is given three notebooks found in the room of recently deceased mute servant Ayesha. Valad immediately recognizes them as containing valuable information about his father and stepmother Kerra, whom he knows took a special interest in Ayesha. As he reads, he finds out that Ayesha and his stepmother had extraordinary stories to tell. Not just one story but combination of many stories, Zivari's debut is filled with joy and sorrow, adventure and history, triumph and failure, redemption and love. The stories take Sultan through many worlds parallel to his own, each portraying an element of life unique unto itself. He learns of Kerra's history, her connection with his father Rumi, and their many adventures in the pursuit of spirituality and love of many kinds. But when a mysterious old man enters the stories, Sultan realizes the truth of both Ayesha and Kerra and that the diaries are not at all what they appear to be. Based on the life of thirteenth century Sufi poet Rumi, Zivari captures the essence of his life and his work effortlessly within her fictional narrative, her words enveloping his life in a dramatic landscape that highlights his work with startling clarity. A fundamental introduction to Eastern Philosophy, Clay, Fire and the Potter will leave you breathless with its startling imagery and deep, emotional resonance. Contributor Bio: Zivari, Sohaila Sohaila Zivari's literary life started in 2006 when she decided to pursue her childhood dream of becoming an author. She began writing by simply diving into it. Her first work was a satirical play written in Farsi. In the summer of 2011, she published her first book in English, Clay, Fire, and The Potter, an historical novel based on the life and works of the great Sufi poet, Rumi. The idea for that book had been simmering on the back burner for twenty years and it is now available on Amazon. Her second novel, A Bath House in the Garden of Adolescence is written as a long poem and, like her first novel, stems out of her Iranian culture and upbringing. She also appears on stage from time-to-time in an ongoing collaboration with the Jewish Women's Theatre, a non-profit organization. She enjoys donating her time as an actor to this community. Sohaila resides in Los Angeles with her husband, celebrates life with her children, and has an especially grand time with her grandson.
