On the Other Side How does a young woman cope with a world at war? Lilly is anti-war even as her husband, Walter, enrolls in training to become a pilot. Lilly?s anti-war activities cause trouble and create conflict with Walter, her job, and her friends. Worldwide tension builds as Germany?s Hitler invaded one country after another. As US involvement deepens and its buildup to war quickens, the traditional married life that Lilly imagined eludes her. The US is negotiating a treaty with Japan when, on December 7, 1941, the Japanese attack US bases at Pearl Harbor, the Philippines, Wake and Guam. The next day, the United States declares war on Japan. For Lilly and Walter, everything changes again.
