If Fate had been kind, Madeleine would have been tall, willowy and elegant with lustrous dark hair which fell to her shoulders in careless, shiny disarray. As it is, she is small and neat with mousey coloured hair which curls every which way except the way she wants it to...... She works in a dusty bookshop for her dear Uncle Theo and while she enjoys it, there is not much going on in the way of excitement. And that is not all: her long term boyfriend, Stephen, is lovely but so predictable and well, to be honest, boring. Maddy decides that the time has come for a change and joins an amateur theatrical society that is about to put on a pantomime. With all the eccentric characters it is a world away from what she is used to, but is she ready for the whirlwind in the form of her new friend, Jenny and the passion she finds with attractive Anton? Love tangles, pantomimes and foreign sunshine beckon but is it what Maddy really wants?
