My Bingo Pals
Henry Nelson Feste
This is a book about seniors at a health care center and their love of the game of bingo, as told by the author, a senior himself. He tells of his experience as a volunteer bingo caller at the center. His tale begins with how as a retiree he began calling bingo for seniors, and he goes on by giving insight into the health care center itself, it's administrative staff, doctors and nurses, and then he turns to the main theme of the book, that being the authors encounters with seniors, and certain caregivers while calling bingo over a three year period. He chooses a number of these seniors/caregivers with varied personalities, attitudes, moods, and/or temperaments to tell their story of humor, joy, sorrow, grief, and/or sadness. Further noted is the passion seniors have for bingo over all other activities, and the distractions they often face, restricting their play of the game. A truly telling story of seniors confined to a care center, and of bingo their favorite past time.
