Unexpected happenings included: living in free overnight stops, generous people, the inland abyss, no loo, creatures, other travelers, email stories, flies, extreme cold and heat, lost hours, tainted fuel, new caravan, Southern Ocean, sox, ice-creams, ambergris, gold detector, zero degrees, and death.

In a continual state of euphoria, while crossing five states, the trip direction took one major detour east to Victoria, and came to a sudden halt at Kalgoorlie, W. A. (after 104 days) with "one-of-those-phone-calls".
