Divorce without the court's involvement. J Ehrlich believes that no fault divorce administered by the court system is an oxymoron. In The Pale Blue Suitcase the author offers an alternative approach. This book is well constructed and easy to read and should be a source book for those involved in the divorce process both personally and from a professional viewpoint. Although written about the Australian situation the information is relevant where-ever divorce occurs. The Family Law Act came into effect in 1970's, and it isn't working to the benefit of our society. J Ehrlich believes Australia needs to focus on healing and nurturing its citizens. The court room is not an institution that can provide healing and nurturing. "The Pale Blue Suitcase - Divorce Pathways" explores an alternative approach that may lead to healing and nurturing the citizens and the nation. Over the last 200 years Australia has become populated mostly by migrants; migrants who have suffered trauma; trauma from being convicts, or from war torn continents or just fleeing from unhealthy family networks. With the invasion of Europeans two hundred years ago Australia's ethic population was decimated and traumatized both physically and spiritually. Unless healed the effects of trauma can be passed down generations. The book is relevant to any country struggling with the divorce process; the effects of trauma, referred to, can be equated to the suffering and trauma that the world has experienced in WWII and other wars over the last 100 years. This trauma needs to be managed within the divorce process.
