Captured: to Run No More Jim Cavanagh
Captured: to Run No More
Jim Cavanagh
James Cavanagh was born in Halifax, N. S. His parents were unable to control him and he very quickly became a run-away child. His troubled childhood caused him to be sent to a Boy's Training School at the age of 10. Because of the "abuse" he received at the school he continued to run. At the age of 15, James asked the Judge to be sent to federal prison in order to escape the "abuse" he had received at the school. Hardened to th core by the prison system, federal penetentiaries became Jim's home for the next 20 years. While in the Special Handling Unit of Millhaven Maximum Institution, Jim's heart was captured by Christ's love through a personal encounter in prayer. What a dramatic change! Jim became paralyzed due to a ruptured blood vessel in his spinal cord. The Doctor's said, "You'll never walk again". Jim's prayer was "Lord restore me", because he wanted a wife and a family before he left this earth. God heard the cry of Jim's heart, and in August 1983, Jim was released from prison, and now walks with two canes. In 1986 God blessed Jim with a lovely wife, Shirley. In 1989, Jim walked back into prisons as the Prison Fellowship Chapter Director in Kingston, Ontario.
