Ann Jardee, a self-assured teacher with a stable career in Colorado, was left an inheritace by her obscure uncle in France, as he felt she was "French in Spirit." She decided to take a year sabbatical to settle her uncle's estate and sample French Life. On her first day in Paris, she was saved from a life-threatening experience by sophisticated, wealthy Jacques Chevalier, who offered her a position at his language institute. To ensure Ann's acceptance, he convinced her best friend, sexy, fashionista, Alexis Dixon, also to work with him. With "Lexi" at her side, Ann soon discovered that France offered adventure beyond what their travel guide-books had informed them to expect. The two friends became entrenched in France's history, culture and the colorful people. Eccentric Pierre became Lexi's persistent suitor and added to their humorous experiences. Ann and Lexi discovered that her inherited property housed hidden tunnels that revealed a tragic ancestral history of near extinction at the hands of a rival family. Descendants of which, unknown to Ann, were embroiled in her life. Torn between her boyfriend back home and her new relationship with Jacques, Ann soon found herself in turmoil, while Lexi followed a path to future heartbreak.
