Cannon is an enigma. Anyone examining his personal or military pedigrees would find mostly rumors and legends. His idyllic retirement in South Florida begins to crumble when a car driven by an apparent Alzheimer's victim crashes into a ditch fronting Cannon's hideaway. Draped across the hood is a corpse...who died carrying an ornate steel cross. Within, days, despite his reluctance, Cannon is drawn into what a federal agent says is an anti-terrorist operation.
