Travel with George O'Dell once more into the magical world of Kriterion as he re-visits through the discovery of manuscripts in the desk of his dead mentor, Miss MacAlpin. George learns a lot from the story about himself as he enters one of the most exciting, frustrating, and life changing summers of his young life. Trouble erupts in Oceanus, a province of Kriterion, when one of King Neptune's mermaid daughters named Serena disobeys him by breaking his cardinal rule about fraternizing with humans. Neptune becomes so enraged that he causes an earthquake deep within the sea. Because of this a seven headed leviathan known as Lotan is released. Neptune orders Lotan to find the human, attack his ship, and kill everyone on it. The Ancient Man, who rules over the world, punishes Neptune for his anger, by releasing another creature known as: Tide Walker. He is the result of a union between a human woman and a fallen angel. He is impossible to kill. The Ancient Man holds the key to defeating the beast. King Neptune must decide whether to ask for His forgiveness for losing his temper and seek His help. Serena is torn between her love for the human and her duty to save her kingdom. She must choose whether to be reconciled with her father and help save the kingdom or marry the human and relinquish her powers. George must face up to his own temper issues and decide whether to marry a beautiful girl he meets over the summer.
