Electrical Engineer Daniel Holloway, Historian Sarah White and Physicists' Nathan Ngumbo and Carley McNeil are four unsuspecting employees working the night-shift at a top secret laboratory, deep under the pine forests of the northern United States. Their day started off uneventfully, but in 47 minutes the world as they knew it was destroyed. Having the unfortunate experience of watching the end via satellite imagery, the quartet find themselves trapped in the enormous underground complex. But things are not always what they seem. The laboratory is involved in more than what they originally believed. Experiments are taking place involving what they call the Zero Gate; experiments that may have a devastating connection to events unfolding on the surface and in the secret chambers of the underground complex. In no time at all they find themselves on a life or death quest to get to the truth... before the truth gets to them!
