Publisher Marketing: I originally wrote Behind the Walls: Making it Through a Tough Time to help me during a period of physical incarceration. However, it wasn't until I received rave reviews about the book from those I passed the book along to who were not and have never been physically incarcerated that I realized the different facets of incarceration or confinement. It was at that time that I took a look at my life and understood that I, along with others experience different forms of incarceration in other areas. I realized that a lot of people are going through different forms of confinement. People are hurting and struggling and they don't know how to process the pain and get to the next level. I realized that they may be succeeding in one area but struggling or failing in others. I too realized that so many people feel stuck. It woke up my senses of how people walk around on a daily basis and are incarcerated in other areas of their lives. For example, you can be confined to your past and not realize that it is holding you back from excelling in different areas. Whether it is, mentally, emotionally, financially, or even spiritually ? incarceration is incarceration and confinement is confinement. Even though I was walking around physically free, I realized that I was confined to the mistakes of my past. I was allowing them to keep me in mental bondage which held me back in all areas of my life. So even in that, I understand that I could no longer continue to confine myself to the experiences that led to my physical incarceration. I needed the doors to open up to what my ministry truly represents. I finally realized that by embracing my experience and processing my feelings about those experiences, I was able to get through the process and its after affects. This process allowed other doors to open up. As doors open up my healing process is continuing and my blessings are continuing to flow. Yes, Behind the Walls is a very strong tool for those physically incarcerated or even in prison and it speaks truth to power to them. However, it is a spiritual development outlet for those who are confined in other areas of their live. For example, when you stay stuck in relationships and you become accustomed to being treated in a certain way, you tend to believe that that's the norm. You don't realize that things can be done differently. Another example is spiritual incarceration. Often times we go through the motions of ?doing church? but not be fulfilled. We refuse to change or do things differently. You tend to feel stuck in just doing things. These are just a few examples of how we walk about confined. But I learned that there is a great ministry for Behind the Walls? and what it symbolizes. So now as I have different speaking opportunities and different guest appearances, I?m not just speaking to those physical prisoners, I?m speaking to others who are mentally confined, spiritually confined, etc. This teaching opens their thinking up and allows them to see the areas in which they are confined. In addition, this teaching gives them the ability to move from ?Behind the Walls? and live productive lives. The groundbreaking message in this book will open the reader's eye to the truth about getting into, staying, and being productive in the body of Christ. It helps one deal with questions and concerns about getting close to God while being incarcerated. It shows how to utilize scripture for prayer as well. But most of all, it assists individuals in releasing the guilt on the sin committed to better move forward while incarcerated. Ultimately, it leaves messages that are aimed to be treasured upon one's freedom. Part journal and part self-help, this Behind the Walls was tailored to shed light on some of life's darkest concerns. With thought-provoking Biblical scriptures and eye-opening personal reflections, this book will bring comfort to the heart and motivation to the spirit.
