Publisher Marketing: Last summer, Myla Carter was sent to stay with her grandmother in the mountains of Maine. During that trip, recounted in The Stone Ship, she had the adventure of her life, yet when she returned home, she realized she couldn't tell anyone about it. In the first place, no one would believe her, and in the second place, if word got out, she would put the community behind the Stone Ship at grave risk. So she kept mum, finished high school and applied to an art school up north for college. Now she's back in Windview, visiting the people she met last summer, as she prepares to start university life in the fall. But during her first week back, she begins to fear last summer's adventure may not be quite over. By the end of the first semester, there's no doubt in any of their minds, and they are once again thrust into the dangerous thrill of the secret life they are all part of. Myla learns and experiences things that just can't be taught at the university as she and the others test and perfect new skills to prepare themselves for the final showdown. Their numbers have grown, the stakes are much higher, and they must band together to protect their secret community. The question is: can they outwit their enemy before he destroys them?
