This book is the fourth in the Young Merlin series and finds him concerned an attack by werewolves from the Unknown Universe could be imminent. Thus he must defend his gothic HQ on the planet Wrath, assisted by the crew of the spaceship Endeavour. To add to his woes the mutant Lost Soul that was killing livestock has become more than a pest. It was searching desperately for a way to escape, no doubt with diabolic plans. Should it succeed there would be chaos so he was tempted to use magic to solve at least some of his problems, though in his experience magic always caused more problems than it solved.
