This is about a scientific research expedition to the southern tip of Baja California in 1963. The challenges of doing biological field work in that remote and difficult environment provided a unique educational opportunity for a small group of graduate students. Now, that experience also provides a glimpse into a culture vastly different from that present today. The methods of field work, the demanding schedule, and the enthusiasm for discoveries to be made are described, as well as the many surprises encountered along the way.
