U?buntu, Mothman of Africa Science Fiction Mystery: U?buntu follows in the fine tradition of the Mothman chronicles. As the title suggests, the story is set primarily in Africa. After the indescribably brutal slaying of a farmer?s family he takes his own life. His mournful wails incite Mothman to exact revenge on the butchers. The African Philosophy of U?buntu suggests that not only should the perpetrators of crimes suffer punishment, but also the greater society in which they live. Following this idea U?buntu locates the murderers who have fled to a nearby shantytown. There, they shared their cruel plunder with the town?s folk. All creatures in this town pay the ultimate price for their perceived sins. Our protagonist, Dr. John Carter, an epidemiologist, is sent in the following day to investigate the deaths thinking they might be due to an outbreak of the Ebola virus. During his investigations he encounters U?buntu, and though not killed, he is profoundly changed, and begins to suffer from horrid and blinding visions. The story follows: Sam, his best friend, is killed by U?buntu. A beautiful but conniving reporter who initially stalked him for an exclusive story, winds up becoming his aide. John then meets a mysterious man who becomes a mentor, and helps him continue his attempts to understand and control this spectral monster. Let me not ruin the end for you.
