Her healing brings healing to the lives of many others on many levels. She finds herself woven into the lives of fantastic people that become her destiny and a source of faith. Rebekah is based on the bleeding woman who through faith alone, reaches out to touch the hem of Christ's garment to be healed. Through Christ her life is healed of the pain, suffering, and emotional trauma that metaphysically manifested itself into her blood disease. The story of Rebekah's life begins as the older sister to her baby brother Jared, who is murdered by soldiers during those fatefilled nights after Herod ordered the death of the newborn King of Kings. Having failed to save her brother, she feels tremendous shame and is filled with guilt. Her mother, weak in faith and spirit, takes her own life, unable to cope with the tragedy of it all. The once dark circumstances of her life becomes the stepping stone toward her rebirth. Forced to leave her home and live with relatives unknown to her, Rebekah finds opportunities awaiting that she would never have had living in Bethany. Her Aunt Eunice just can't contain the bright light of her spirit. Her destiny is to teach and she does so with a fire in her heart and motive that is pure. Her grandmother Lois has seen hardship of her own and carries her faith like a torch for her family. Rebekah's cousin Timothy, is exceptionally bright and well versed in the Torah, having been uniquely taught by mother. Born to be a physician, Luke has the tools and the knowledge to be a great supporter of His cause. He falls in love with Rebekah and although he is a trained physician, cannot cure her of her bleeding illness. Rebekah's faith provides Luke with the inspiration and desire of his heart to be the great leader he was meant to be, the gentle warrior for the cause of Christ. Set in the first century, this historical fiction weaves very plausible lives into some very interesting, but vaguely described characters of the Bible. The essence of the book is that we are all the same, no matter what century you live. It also shows the strength of women during the time of Christ and the support they showed in order for their men to do Christ's work.
