Marc Notes: Introducing The Lemon Drop Martini Club.--Front cover. Publisher Marketing: Think of the "First Wives Club" after menopause but before assisted living, and you've got the Lemon Drop Martini Club. Constance, Catherine and Cynthia are three women who've been best friends forever. They're your average female baby boomers...sort of. Constance is a retired CFO, Catherine is a syndicated columnist for a large Denver newspaper, and Cynthia is the best nail tech and hairstylist west of the Mississippi. These three mild mannered "mature" women have lived fairly uneventful lives until Catherine writes an expose about the head of the Denver Mafia that pisses him off and he puts a contract out on her. What's a girl to do? Head for the mountains and Grand Lake Village to hide out with her best friends, that's what! But thank God these ladies aren't your normal baby boomers. They may have French manicures and highlighted hair, but they have no fear, they're physically fit and they have really cool tattoos. Just saying. Hiding out isn't all bad when there's kayaking, hiking, boating around the lake in their Moomba, bellying up to the bar at the Lariat Saloon for a Coors, or driving up to the Grand Lake Lodge for a Lemon Drop Martini. But all that ends when they find out the hit man has found their hideout. Watching their backs and turning the tables on the would-be killer becomes their top priority. Because dodging bullets can really wreck a great hair day! Growing up on the Denver/Front Range gave me a lot of country and chic to flit around in. I think it's the best place in the world to live. We have wide-open spaces & cramped downtown high-rises, mountains & plains, lofts & ranches, bistros & barbecues, symphonies & rodeos. Plus, the best outdoor playground any man or woman could ever want. I flitted between country and chic in my first two books. My first book, Cowgirl Up! is about all things country - horses, dogs, trail rides, cowboys, chaps, boots, and vets. My second book, Scared Hitless is about all things chic - trendy women, vacation homes, mountain resorts, boutiques, boating, and Lemon Drop Martinis. These books embrace the best of my two worlds. Included in my worlds are my family, friends and pets. I live in Broomfield and I have a gorgeous view of the Rocky Mountain Range and the Flatirons above Boulder. I see my old high school classmates and horse pals on a regular basis, and my best friends, kids and grandkids live within a few miles of my house. I'm a free spirit; a "glass-is-half-full" kinda gal, and forever a hippie at heart. My favorite skirt is my Mudmee wraparound, and I have my old love beads and Lennon sunglasses in my cedar chest. Along with my cashmere gloves, cloche hat, Calvin Klein handbag, old quilt, Parelli horse halter, and a hand-made hackamore bit from my grandfather. See what I mean? I will always be a woman who flitters between country and chic - a Colorado native and proud of it!
