A TRUE STORY.... Blitz & Pieces is the autobiography of Percy Chattey. He recollects his young life during W. W. II when the Germans were blitzing Britain especially London. He describes in detail the fear of living in a cold damp air raid shelter, night after night, listening to the bombs dropping, the constant noise and shaking of the ground as they explode around where the family lay. He explains about schooling, or lack of it, and the sorrow of sitting next to a friend crying all day because his father was killed that very morning. When the Blitz came to an end then the new horror of Germany's new weapons the VI and VII and how his mother was involved in one of the explosions of these indiscrimate weapons raining down on a civilain population. He tells the reader of leaving school and trying to find work in difficult times in the East End of London. There are plenty of anecdotes of the three and half years he spent in the Army and being recalled for the Suez Crisis in 1956, and after, finding work developing a career and business life. He goes on to describe when he was involved with Members of Parliament and other offices of State as the President of a National Association.
