Hide and Seek
Everybody needs a place to hide. A place to go whenever life overwhelms them, a place to go whenever people wear you down. For many, that place is a good book. Where you read that book is inconsequential; it could be under a grand tree in a summer forest, or among the hordes of people in an inner-city coffee house. What's important are the words that sing and dance on the page. Words that gives us worlds of wonder and beauty and misery and pain. Words that take us on journeys to find ourselves among a sea of entangling lives. Words that set us free while keeping our feet firmly on the ground. Words that inspire us, just as I hope my humble words will one day inspire others...
His lost emotions were hiding within him. They forever played hide-and-seek in the faces of those around him. He felt as others did, he was happy near his best friends, angry in the presence of his enemies, indifferent to those who didn't know him, and he appeared sad to everyone else. There were only a few faces where he could feel alive again, in the few who showed him the most love, being close to those few, he no longer sponged off of what was around him. His inner being could finally yell "Ollie Ollie Oxen Free" and everything he desired to feel, that was possible to feel, would come out of hiding. All his feelings flooded him at once, and he finally felt like his trek through the miserably arid desert of his lonely life had been a dream, and this, the ability to feel, was what it was like to wake up and live again, His thirst was quenched
