Janie Montgomery knew the risks when she quit her job and opened her own business in the small town of Edenton, North Carolina. Even though it had been open for only a few months, it was going well. She discovered she had a knack for helping people. She certainly had a knack for allowing Alexander Drake, the private investigator who opened an office next to hers, to talk her into helping him more than she planned. It didn't help that she found him distracting, in a good way. Even though romance wasn't on her list of things to do, she decided she'd make an effort to become a distraction to the handsome guy next door.
