In the aftermath of the fall of South Vietnam to North Vietnamese Communist forces in April 1975, General Duong Khanh, an ex-general of the South Vietnamese army, resettled in the working class city of Fairfield, New South Wales, Australia. Together with him were his ambitious wife Nhan Ai, daughter Charlie and a handful of fellow ex-army officers. This city included in its embrace the suburb of Cabramatta where the bulk of Vietnamese refugees had been calling home. With the assistance of Viktor Hausberg, a leader of the Captive Nations Council, member of the Liberal Party and eventually NSW Minister for Finance & Ethnic Affairs, Duong Khanh wanted no less than to lead his followers in a struggle to liberate Vietnam from communism ....
