Losing his wife was only the beginning for him. Dying was only a beginning for her. They were the Dom Soul, two parts of a twin soul, who loved each other through many a lifetime.
The love between Daniel and Vanna was so strong that they could not wait until the next life to be reunited again. Yet, death would not give up easy on the soul once it claimed it.
Would the love these eternal lovers share be strong enough to fight against the inevitable?
Is there an existence outside of the cycle of reincarnation?
Are our lives written in stone or can we write our own destiny?
The answers lie in The Tao of Love: Reflections
"On Vanna's last day alive, she bought some chrysanthemums for the flowerbeds that bordered the front porch. She bought them in silent riposte to Daniel's teasing her about planting all the ivy around the house. When they bought the home, there was nothing left but a few shrubs, with an elaborate lattice work around the house where there once were roses. At the sight of the lattice, Vanna knew that one day they would be covered in ivy.
"Ivy will attract fairies," she said.
Daniel didn't know if she was serious or just playing with him. But it didn't matter either way to him. He enjoyed the togetherness. He went as far as making an ornate sign proclaiming the house, "Ivy Manor," and placing it near the front gate. He even started to call her 'Ivy' in jest, saying it was a befitting nickname since they lived in a forest of ivy.
He knew Vanna didn't mind. She kind of liked it, even the little sign by the front gate. After all, she had started it by calling his old '64 GMC pickup truck 'Ginny'. She said that he and Ginny went together like peas and carrots, using her pitiful version of a Forest Gump voice. That always got a smile and chuckle out of him. She even went so far as to call him 'Lieutenant Dan' when she needed a hand, knowing he would ask her afterwards, "Is that all you got?" to which she would reply, "Can you handle what I got?" The playfulness of it all warmed her heart.
Secretly, Daniel was proud to see Vanna take such an interest in landscaping and helping him with the remodeling of the house. He thought it sexy for a woman to get her hands dirty working the soil and swinging a hammer. The sight of her standing on a ladder in her cut-off jean shorts and little leather tool belt drove him blind with lust. What's worse, she knew it. The house was fast becoming their home. Together, they were building a life, a beautiful life. But that was then and this was now.
