There they meet Lona, the author of the letter and a silent movie star who somehow doesn't appear to have aged. Her friend, Penelope, turns out to be the famous female pilot whose plane mysteriously disappeared over the Pacific Ocean decades earlier, yet she doesn't appear to have aged either. Hamnet and Al soon meet Dr. Richardson, a nineteenthcentury physician who created an elixir from a Romosa plant that prevents all signs of aging. Now, as they wrestle with the undeniable temptation of eternal youth, the men must decide whether they'll risk their lives and stay on the threatening Romosa or sail back to the mainland and inevitable mortality.
