If It Wasn't for Her
Jim Mooneyhan
James is living the life he always wanted as a captain and a fighter pilot at Eglin Air Force Base. While attending a pilot training class, James meets Camea, an attractive incognito USAF captain and pilot, serving refreshments to the class attendees. For James, it is love at first sight; undaunted by her appearing to be an airman, he invites her to lunch at the base?s dining facility. A few days later, during an experimental weapon test, Camea flies into restricted airspace to the chagrin of James? commanding officer, Colonel Jackson, who orders her to be shot down, an action that literally changes James? life. After Camea is shot down and interrogated, her father, Colonel Wilson, the commander of a special unit at Nellis Air Force Base, arrives; James soon learns that Camea and her father are recruiting pilots for their black ops program and is transferred to Nellis where he, with Camea as his instructor, commanding officer, and later fiancé, begins advanced weapons training while flying Northrop?s F-23. Of the 7734th Squadron?s twelve pilots, James and Camea, now married, are assigned the clandestine mission to shoot down a North Korean test missile and bomb North Korea?s nuclear research facility while deflecting any suspicion of US involvement. The Korean People?s Army Air Force launches fighters to intercept them and during the battle, Camea?s aircraft experiences trouble. Will their mission succeed? Will James lose another?
