The story captures the political climate over a four year period starting with the inauguration of the President of the United States. The main character, Joe Striker, an ex-CIA operative, is fed up with the status quo. He is inspired to create 'the mission' - a promise to reinvent our republic through the creation of a new party (the Grassroots Party) that systematically empowers the masses and bridges the gap between their respective representatives like never before. The story follows Striker and an assortment of friends as they build the party from the ground up. The perspective swings to Washington and builds a realistic political scene that shines a light on those who wield true power in this country, from the halls of Congress to the Oval office to K Street. Soon its campaign season and our band of reformists have built a foundation of popular support. They talk about showing strength by nominating a candidate for President. Without question, that candidate will be Striker. They put together a platform that is neither liberal nor conservative -- but truly independent. It emphasizes reform; is smart; and provides real solutions to real problems. The last third of the book will follow their campaign as true underdogs outside the political establishment to its epicenter - the Presidency! Furthermore, surrounding the main plot is a number of subplots seamlessly intertwined that involve love, scandal, war, international conspiracy, and powerful secret organizations.
