The person or thing causes it to happen by forcing another person or thing to do it.

Types of Causative Verbs
Causative structures are of two types - 'Active' in Nature and 'Passive' in Nature
Active Causatives
First form of verb is used when something has to do by somebody/something
She caused needle to run. [First form of 'run']
(Thus, Causative structure is 'Active' in Nature)
Passive Causatives
Third form of verb is used when something is done to somebody/something
Hospital caused him to get infected. [Third form of 'infect']
(Thus, Causative structure is 'Passive' in Nature)

Subject + Causative Verb + Agent + Action Verb In First Form + Object
I have him take my photograph. (Present)
Explanation:
I arrange for my photograph to be taken by him.
[I cause him to take my photograph.]
So, this is like active causative structure.
He has her take my photograph. (Present)
Explanation:
He arranges for my photograph to be taken by her.
[He causes her to take my photograph.]
So, this is like active causative structure.
I had him take my photograph. (Past)
Explanation:
I arranged for my photograph to be taken by him.
[I caused him to take my photograph.]
