It has been more than twenty five years since the Brazos and Nueces returned to O?Neill station bringing more questions than answers about the strange crystals they had been sent to investigate. The political climate on Earth has not changed much in the ensuing years but CSS Aerospace and the Japanese Space Agency still managed to prosper by promoting and selling technology based on those strange little crystals. The crystals have been named the Marquez-Musashi crystals in honor of two of the heroes of the original discovery mission. Now Marquez-Musashi (MM) technology is being used to provide power and to reduce atmospheric contamination on Earth as well as in space. In fact, the CSS research ship DAWN, an experimental vessel powered entirely by the Marquez-Musashi crystal arrays developed on O?Neill station, has begun testing the limits of the new MM drive system. What follows is perhaps the most unusual of love stories; a love story made even more unusual by circumstances encountered during the test flights of Dawn.
