This book tells the story of an impoverished boy whose parents were so poor, they could not give him any music lessons. He became a self taught musician. Dinney Dinofer with an unbelievable determination to become successful became obsessed and applied his entire energy to become a popular jazz drummer on the same level of those that already enjoyed an enviable reputation. This book will tell you how he accomplished that goal and his success in becoming the first white musician in the United States to play with a named black orchestra.
